Dr. Joseph Flaherty - Medical Director
Dr. Flaherty graduated from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1990, completed his Internal Medicine residency at Kansas University (1993) and his Geriatric Fellowship at Saint Louis University (1995). He is currently Professor of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and the St. Louis VA Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center, St. Louis, MO.
Dr. Flaherty is the Co-Director for the Fellowship Program for Division of Geriatrics at Saint Louis University, the Co-Medical Director of the Palliative Care Consult Service at Saint Louis University Hospital, the Medical Director of the ACE (Acute Care for Elderly) Unit with its Delirium Room at Des Peres Tenet Hospital, the Medical Director of Alternative Hospice, the Medical Director of Home Based Primary Care at the St. Louis VA and the Medical Director of Bethesda Dilworth Nursing Home.
His areas of interest and publication include hospital care of elderly patients, especially delirium; palliative and end of life care; medication use among older persons; and longevity research among Chinese nonagenarians and centenarians in collaboration with Sichuan University in Chengdu, China.
Dr. Rajendra Gavini - Associate Medical Director, St. Louis area
Dr. Gavini began his medical education at Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India in 1969 and finished his residency and chief residency in Surgery at Homer G. Phillip’s Hospital in St. Louis Missouri in 1976. Dr. Gavini is a member of the American Medical Directors Association.
He currently practices General Medicine, specializing in Geriatrics, at the Gavini Medical Group.
Currently Dr. Gavini is the associate medical director for Alternative Hospice. He also is the medical director at Abbey Care Nursing Home, Creve Coeur Manor Nursing Home, North Valley Manor, Green Valley Manor and Parkside Towers.
Dr. Musa Modad – Associate Medical Director, Cuba, Missouri Area
Dr. Modad is a graduate of Cordoba National University School of Medicine in Cordoba, Argentina. He received his Medical Degree in 1977. He also has a General Surgery degree from Sanatoria Acventista del Plata in Entre, Rios, Argentina which he received in 1981. In 1993 he earned is Internal Medicine degree from Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
Currently Dr. Modad is on staff at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan. He has an office with Patients First Health Care in Sullivan.
